Ephesians chapter 5

Today, it’s about just 2 separate portions from this chapter that I learned from:

Let no man deceive you with vain words…. Ephesians 5:6a

and

What is the will of the Lord?  Ephesians 5:17-21

Here’s what we get deceived about with vain words: all the things in Ephesians 5:5.   A person can get led to think that the wrath of God doesn’t come upon  whoremongers, unclean persons, covetous man, and idolaters, but God’s wrath can come upon the children of disobedience.   It’s all right there, plain and simple.  We can please God, or choose not to.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.  Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience (June 28, 2011).           We don’t have to be a part of it, like  the next verses in 5:7 says: “Be not ye therefore partakers with them”.   But then, there is marriage.   Your friends  as couples, are the husbands choice usually.  Who are his male friends?  That is why marriage has the potential to be very trying.  It’s not just you anymore who is inviting people to your home, and befriending, now it’s your husband’s choices too.  He’s got to have edifying friends.

We can understand what the will of the LORD is.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the LORD is.  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord:  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ;  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God (Search by Verse TM Bible King James Version: [Kindle Fire version].)

We don’t need to drink liquor, but instead be filled with the Holy Spirit.    We can fill our mind with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, to the Lord.   Here comes the thankfulness part in verse 20; giving thanks always!

This works.  Singing to the Lord and being thankful to Him makes a person’s heart lighter and  pleases God.  It does wonders for me.  I’m glad my house isn’t so close to the neighbor’s that they hear me sing.  I might bother them if our houses were closer!

These are all good things from Ephesians 5.  This has been a good week reading this book every day.  When I die I can take my last breath knowing that I read God’s Word.  Many people are not prepared to die.  How embarrassing to go to heaven and not have read God’s word here in this life.

Being in God’s Word is the right thing to do.  Too many  weird beliefs can crowd out what is the Truth.  Get into God’s word on a regular basis.   Get a kindle, the bright light is so great for old eyes.  Don’t be embarrassed when you get to heaven and regret that you didn’t read God’s Word.  He speaks to us through his Word (King James Bible).
