a convergence of tea time thoughts for ladies

Just a sample- Apercu

image

I just sampled this- Apercu by Houbigant.   It’s an oak moss chypre* .    I read that they don’t make this one anymore, yet I’ve seen it being sold online.   It isn’t loud, but it’s kind of strong.  I’m liking this little sample I got, but wouldn’t want a full bottle of it.   Samples are great to settle your curiosity about certain  perfumes, sometimes you find a true love, but often, they aren’t something you’d love to wear.

*Chypre: pronounced “sheepra”, French for “Cyprus” and first used by François Coty to describe the aromas he found on the island of Cyprus. He created a woodsy, mossy, citrusy perfume named Chypre (launched by Coty in 1917). Classic chypre fragrances generally had sparkling citrus and floral notes over a dark, earthy base of oakmoss, patchouli, woods and labdanum.

Fragrance Information:

Aperçu is a chypre fragrance. Top notes bergamot, neroli, jasmine, tuberose, lemon, green leaf. Heart notes bois de rose, geranium, cinnamon bark oil, ylang-ylang. Bottom notes vetiver, sandalwood, oakmoss, patchouli, clove, cassis.
