The guilt trip verse

I always thought this meant you got to obey your pastor and authority in the local church since they  “watch for your souls”, but it doesn’t mean that!  Read on.

“obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that  (is) unprofitable for you.”

Hebrews 13:17

Now I understand this doesn’t apply to us,  but it does apply to the saints of the tribulation which is yet to come.

What does apply to us concerning those in our local church, is the following  passage which makes more sense and doesn’t give a pastor in the church abuse power:

And we beseech you brethren, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their works sake.  And be at peace among yourselves.   1 Thessalonians 5:12, 13

It’s great to rightly divide the Word of God and understand it.   Thank you pastor  Paulson.
