Red Carnations/Homemade Heath Bars

Here's a water color of mine from the mid 90's that my sister so graciously scanned for me.  I have  chicken photos to show as well, but I do not know how to get more than one photo at a time on any given post. 

More personel tid-bits:  Here's what we've been enjoying  for a treat around our house—home-made Heath candy bars.  They are under the title "Toffee" in the 1969 Betty Crocker cookbook on page 165.  Here's the recipe: 

  •  1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 3/4 cup br sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup butter (that's one stick)
  • 1 bar (4 1/2 ounces) milk chocolate candy or 1@ cup semisweet chocolate chips

Butter square pan, 9x9x2 inches.  spread pecans in pan. Heat sugar and butter to boiling, stirring constantly.  Boil over medium heat, stirring constatnly, 7 minutes.  Immediately spread mixture evenly over nuts in pan.

Sprinkle chocolate pieces over hot mixture; place baking sheet over pan so contained heat will melt the chocolate.  Spread meleted chocoate over candy. While hot, cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.  Chill untill firm.  Makes 3 dozen candies.

My daughter surprised us  with a plate of these!  I have a sister (deceased) who absolutely loved Heath candy bars so I think of her when I see a batch of these on the counter.
